That of Achille Maramotti - founder of Max Mara - is one of those careers whose success was easy to predict. The son and grandson of a dressmaker, he wanted to dedicate himself to law, but at the age of 29 and despite not having studied fashion, he decided to create pieces that he copied from magazines. The success of those creations was as sudden as it was numerically proportioned and soon after he decided to create his own brand. Confezioni Maramotti was the name it received at first but eventually became famous under the nomenclature of Max Mara.
During the 1970s, he gave work to fashion personalities such as Franco Moschino and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac as part of his creative team. In 1991 Achille was already the fourth richest man in Italy. With the comfort that money brings, he retired from the business and bequeathed the management of the company to his three children.
Max Mara is currently present in more than 90 countries and continues with its policy of discretion and a job well done. The Italian company is very focused on generating an image of support for culture and art with the creation of various awards, including the Art Prize for Women.
